Autumn Inspiration

It's May already time seems to go so quickly these days. My son Felix is now one and another on the way due in October very exciting times.
To celebrate Felix's first birthday my husband and I took him to the National Rhododendron Garden in Mt Dandenong for a picnic. It was a beautiful autumn day with lots of colour exploding all around us.
I haven't picked up my Nikon camera in such a long time opting for the easy iPhone to take most of my photos and it was great to hold it again and to take some amazing photos to be proud of. It reminded me of a talent and passion I have that has been lost for awhile now and it was great to get inspired and back into it.
I took many photographs but here are some of the special ones.

Make It - Deco Tape Ideas

...........I love using deco tape to decorate items in my craft studio here are just a few things I have made......

I have purchased most of my deco tapes from diaso I love this shop everything is $2.80AUD so here a a few pics of my recent purchases...

This tape has cats, bird cages, balloons, balls of yarn
and arm chairs on it a real cute french theme
This one is a lace tape with love heart and flower cut outs this one tends to go a bit see through so not so good for putting on dark colours
Japanese fabric tape I might use this one for some book binding great to put down the spine of your books before binding

Japanese cheery blossom paper tape, this one can be torn and you can use punch stamps to make your own stickers

Here I have used the lace deco tape around a coffee jar
Around a tea light glass holder

 and around a wood pencil

How to make your own whiteboard

Sick of those smudgy boring whiteboards that stain. Then you can make your own and change the background when you like.

What you'll need
-Picture frame with glass of your choice
-Fabric
-Ribbon
-White paper
-Sticky Tape
-Glass cleaner
-Window markers

To start off with take your picture frame apart and clean the glass both sides with glass cleaner. Make sure you have no fluff on the in side glass as you will be able to see it later.

Get the backing board from frame and tape white paper on one side. This is so if you have a fabric which is a bit see through the backing board wont show through.

Wrap the fabric of your choice over the backing board. I choose white because when you go to write on the board you can see all of the colors. Pull the fabric tight and tape it down on all sides so it cant move or slip.

Next you get get some ribbon and put it on top of the fabric and secure with tape on the other side. You could also put on pictures anything you like that is not to bulky.

Grab your backing board and lower it into the the picture frame sandwiching it in can be quite tricky turn frame over to make sure all is in place and not moved. Then you can secure the backing board in place in the frame and presto all done ready to hang on the wall.

I use crayola white board markers on the glass they have a fine tip and rub off easy and come in great colors.

You could also make a version with black fabric and just use a white window marker.
