Make It - Deco Tape Ideas

...........I love using deco tape to decorate items in my craft studio here are just a few things I have made......

I have purchased most of my deco tapes from diaso I love this shop everything is $2.80AUD so here a a few pics of my recent purchases...

This tape has cats, bird cages, balloons, balls of yarn
and arm chairs on it a real cute french theme
This one is a lace tape with love heart and flower cut outs this one tends to go a bit see through so not so good for putting on dark colours
Japanese fabric tape I might use this one for some book binding great to put down the spine of your books before binding

 Japanese cheery blossom paper tape, this one can be torn and you can use punch stamps to make your own stickers

Here I have used the lace deco tape around a coffee jar
Around a tea light glass holder

 and around a wood pencil

Make It- Sew On Labels

I have been wanting to post this for awhile now and finally can. I changed the design of my label and thought i would do a tutorial as I made them. Why pay to get your labels made when you can easily make them yourself....

Items Needed

* Linen Tape ( I used 2cm Tape)
* Printer transfer T-shirt Paper ( I used Epsom brand)
* Scissors
* Iron
* Computer program like publisher or photo-shop

I used publisher to create my label.
I went into page setup and changed the page layout size to custom and made the dimensions 2cm X 5cm.

I also change the copies per sheet so I ended up with 45 labels on a A4 size paper.

I used word art to make my text ....This is so you can flip your text horizontal

*Remember text must be in a mirror image*

To flip text go select text and go to arrange in the menu bar go down to flip or rotate and then click flip horizontal now your text should be a mirror image.

Make any design you like then you can print it.  I changed my printer settings to best photo to get the greatest result....

Once it has printed out give it time to dry... then you can start ironing...

Cut out the label from the transfer paper and cut linen tape to size make sure the tape is fluff free and clean you don't want fluff pressed under your transfer.....
Set you iron on a low setting and have the steam function off... Start to iron the transfer onto the tape make sure you go right to the edges keep moving the iron around so you don't burn the transfer paper...
Let the label cool then you can peel the paper back off and WOW you have just made you own designed label......

......Happy making....

Make It- Felt Pine Cones

  I love making fabric pine cones I have been using this fantastic tutorial from
http://knittygrittythoughts.typepad.com/knitty_gritty_thoughts/2009/11/my-entry.html
to make them
I decided to experiment and do a little variation. I had heaps of felt circles from my sizzix cutter and thought these would be great to use.
Using the same technique as the fabric pine cones I arranged the felt circles the same way on the Styrofoam ball.
These are fun to make and look good as a display..........
I recommend buying a sizzix cutter they come in very handy. I was able to get a hello kitty big shot sizzix a couple of years ago and I just adore it.
I purchased mine from this website http://store.scrapbook.com/brand/sizzix.html
..........Happy crafting......

How to make your own whiteboard

Sick of those smudgy boring whiteboards that stain. Then you can make your own and change the background when you like.

What you'll need
-Picture frame with glass of your choice
-Fabric
-Ribbon
-White paper
-Sticky Tape
-Glass cleaner
-Window markers

To start off with take your picture frame apart and clean the glass both sides with glass cleaner. Make sure you have no fluff on the in side glass as you will be able to see it later.

Get the backing board from frame and tape white paper on one side. This is so if you have a fabric which is a bit see through the backing board wont show through.

Wrap the fabric of your choice over the backing board. I choose white because when you go to write on the board you can see all of the colors. Pull the fabric tight and tape it down on all sides so it cant move or slip.

Next you get get some ribbon and put it on top of the fabric and secure with tape on the other side. You could also put on pictures anything you like that is not to bulky.

Grab your backing board and lower it into the the picture frame sandwiching it in can be quite tricky turn frame over to make sure all is in place and not moved. Then you can secure the backing board in place in the frame and presto all done ready to hang on the wall.

I use crayola white board markers on the glass they have a fine tip and rub off easy and come in great colors.

You could also make a version with black fabric and just use a white window marker.
